*Photos shown on the SLP site reflect the SLP experience prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the program was put on hold in the summer of 2020, SLP 2021 was administered as a unique virtual internship following all Public Health guidelines and safety measures, as directed at the time.*
The Summer Leadership Program (SLP) is a unique political internship developed to invest in the future success of young leaders from coast to coast to coast.
SLP provides young people an opportunity to contribute to Prime Minister Trudeau’s team while gaining vital job experience serving in the offices of Liberal Members of Parliament, Ministers’ Offices, The Prime Minister’s Office and the Liberal Research Bureau. At the same time, SLP gives our Liberal government an opportunity to learn from the young leaders of today.
The SLP 2022 internship is a diverse and fast-paced work experience that has been designed to encourage participants to develop learning objectives that are structured into the program and guided by supervising political staff. The aim of the program is to balance the participants’ learning experience with the goals and responsibilities of the Liberal Member of Parliament that you will be working with. Although each office will have a slightly different job description, we are committed to providing participants with a meaningful learning experience where they will be able to learn, grow and connect virtually and alongside political staff and other emerging young leaders who are passionate about promoting the Liberal government’s agenda.
Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic and in order to ensure we follow all public health and safety measures to keep safe, the Summer Leadership Program 2022 will be administered as a hybrid internship experience offering work placements remotely and in-person, where permitted by public health measures. Opportunities for in-person placements will be assessed based on direction provided by regional and local public health authorities throughout the duration of the 2022 program.
